When the Weather Turns Cold, it’s Time to Take the Fun Indoors!

Gig Harbor’s top indoor adventure spots

Gig Harbor is known for waterfront activities, beautiful parks and majestic views, but there are also some fantastic indoor activities that make this city such a wonderful and exciting place for visitors—and locals—to explore.

From laser tag and bowling to interactive museums and adrenaline-pumping escape rooms, on those cold, rainy days—or when you need a break from the sun and sea—head indoors for an exciting adventure you won’t forget.

Ocean5 is a local favorite spot for families and individuals to gather and have fun. The 57,000-square-foot building in Olympic Town Center off Point Fosdick Drive is home to a two-story laser tag facility, 22 bowling lanes and an extensive game room featuring new and retro arcade games.

The center offers traditional 10-pin bowling as well as duckpin bowling, which uses pins half the size. Private bowling suites are available, and the full-service restaurant Table 47 provides the ideal spot to stop and refresh with a bite or drink. Visit Ocean5.com for more information.

An interactive hands-on museum, the Harbor History Museum is the perfect place for families and kids to learn about the region’s rich history. The museum offers permanent exhibitions as well as three to five special exhibitions throughout the year and provides a variety of public education programs. The Pioneer School Experience serves more than 1,500 students every year and provides an authentic pioneer school classroom experience, including period dress. Visit HarborHistoryMuseum.org to find out more.

For the thrill-seeking, Escape Hour in Gig Harbor offers a 70-minute escape experience where participants must find clues and solve puzzles to get out of custom-made, elaborately designed escape rooms. They offer several different escape room experiences like The Legend of Therodonia or The Cabin—the perfect spot for an indoor family adventure. Visit EscapeHourGigHarbor.com for more information.

For a fully integrated movie experience, the Galaxy Theatre is ranked in the top 10 percent in the industry for its size!
